Who We Are
Green Reach Energy (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website greenreachenergy.co.uk and is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy enquiry, email help@greenreachenergy.co.uk.
Our Current Status (Pre-Launch)
Green Reach Energy is currently an information-only website. Our quote-comparison service is not yet live. Right now we do not operate any form that collects your personal data, and we do not pass any personal data to installers or other third parties. The only personal data we process today is described below. When our comparison service launches, we will update this policy and obtain your specific, informed consent before collecting or sharing any quote details.
Legal Framework
This privacy policy is provided in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). We are committed to protecting your personal data and being transparent about how we collect and use it.
What Data We Collect
Today, we only process:
- Email correspondence — if you contact us at help@greenreachenergy.co.uk, we receive your email address, your name (if you provide it) and the contents of your message, so that we can reply.
- Analytics data — if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects usage data (such as a randomised identifier, approximate location, device and browser information, and the pages you visit). This is personal data; we do not describe it as “anonymous”.
- Technical data — our server logs automatically record limited technical information, including your IP address. An IP address is personal data.
We do not currently collect names, postal addresses, postcodes or phone numbers through any form on this site.
Lawful Basis for Processing
Under the UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. The bases we rely on are:
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — to respond to email enquiries you choose to send us, to keep the site secure, and (alongside your cookie consent) to understand how the site is used. We have assessed that this does not override your rights and freedoms.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — analytics cookies are only set if you accept them on the cookie banner. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
When our quote-comparison service launches, we will rely on your separate, explicit consent before collecting or sharing any quote details, and this policy will be updated to reflect that.
How We Use Your Data
- To respond to enquiries you send us by email.
- To keep the website secure and functioning.
- To understand how visitors use our site and improve it (only if you accept analytics cookies).
Who We Share Data With
We do not currently share your personal data with installers or any other third party for lead-generation or marketing purposes — our quote-comparison service is not yet operational. We never sell, rent or trade your personal data.
The only third parties that process limited data are:
- Google Analytics — usage data, only if you accept analytics cookies (see Cookies and International Data Transfers below).
- Our UK-based hosting provider — which stores the website and server logs as part of providing our hosting service.
Our intended business model (for transparency): when our quote-comparison service goes live, Green Reach Energy intends to operate as a referral service. At that point — and only with your explicit, separate consent — we would pass your enquiry to a small number of relevant installers, and we may earn a referral fee if you go on to have work carried out. We will never sell your data for unrelated third-party marketing. None of this is active today.
Cookies
In accordance with PECR, we use the following cookies:
- gr_cookie_consent — Remembers your cookie preference. This is a strictly necessary cookie and is always set. Expires after 12 months.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — Helps us understand site traffic and usage patterns. These are analytics cookies and are only set if you accept analytics cookies on the cookie banner. Expires after 13 months.
You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
International Data Transfers
Google Analytics may process data on servers located outside the United Kingdom. Where data is transferred outside the UK, Google relies on appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses. For more information, see Google’s privacy policy and their data processing terms.
How Long We Keep Your Data
- Email enquiries — kept for up to 12 months, then securely deleted.
- Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
- Cookie consent preference — stored in your browser for 12 months.
We do not currently hold any quote or lead data. When personal data is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected, it is securely deleted or anonymised.
Your Rights Under UK GDPR
Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — You can ask us to delete your personal data (the “right to be forgotten”).
- Right to restrict processing — You can ask us to stop using your data for a specific purpose.
- Right to data portability — You can request your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent — Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, email help@greenreachenergy.co.uk. We will respond within one month. In complex cases, we may extend this by a further two months, but we will inform you within the first month if this is necessary.
Right to Complain
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s independent authority for data protection.

ICO Registration
We will complete our registration with the Information Commissioner’s Office, and add our registration number to this policy, before our quote-comparison service goes live and begins processing quote data.
Children’s Privacy
Our service is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
Third-Party Services
Our site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
