Definition: The EV Chargepoint Grant (OZEV) pays £500 per socket towards a home charger for renters and flat owners — from April 2026 — installed by an OZEV-approved installer.

Who can claim

Renters and flat owners with dedicated off-street parking. Homeowners in houses are no longer eligible for the standard grant but may access landlord or workplace schemes.

Charger costs

A 7kW home chargepoint costs £800-£1,500 installed before the grant. Charging overnight on an EV tariff can cut per-mile costs to around 2-3p.
